Scheduled for August 5 to 8, PulpFest 2027 will take place at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry in Mars, Pennsylvania.
We’ll be saluting the 90th anniversary of The Shadow radio drama’s debut — featuring a young Orson Welles as the title character — the 130th anniversary of the birth of pulp writer and UFO researcher Donald E. Keyhoe, and more at PulpFest 2027.
PulpFest 2027 and Doc Con 2027 are also pleased to announce that William Preston, author of “The Old Man” stories for Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine, will be the guest of honor at both conventions. He’s best known for his series of “pulp” stories referred to as “tales of the old man,” concerning a Doc Savage-like hero. These have recently been collected in the book, A Work of Human Hands.
And don’t forget that Doc Con 2027, the 2027 Edgar Rice Burroughs Chain of Friendship gathering, Farmercon XXII, and The Shadow Con 2027 will also be part of next year’s PulpFest. Each of these “mini-conventions” will have presentations in our programming room.
We’re also planning a tribute to the late Will Murray, novelist, journalist, and one of the pulp community’s foremost historians.
We will announce our planned programming schedule on Monday, December 14, 2026. To keep abreast of our plans, please bookmark pulpfest. com and our social media sites. We’ll be posting more information in the coming months. Our programming previews will begin in early May. Our lead image was adapted by William Lampkin from George Rozen’s cover art for The Shadow for May 1, 1938, illustrating Walter B. Gibson’s novel, “Cards of Death,” and celebrating The Shadow radio drama on the Mutual Broadcasting System. An excerpt from Rozen’s cover also serves as our featured image.
