PulpFest

Time for a Vacation

When I first offered to write for PulpFest, they threw me into the deep end of the lake, asking for a tribute to the late Rusty Hevelin. I guess it was sink or swim.

Perhaps they wanted to see if I could write. Or maybe, they wanted me to go away. But I guess I passed the test. I’m still contributing after nearly five years.

Even though my byline appears less often than others, I know the PulpFest marketing team works hard all year. That’s why we need a vacation. So for the next few weeks, you won’t be seeing much here at pulpfest.com.

Where will we go? To the beach? The Big Apple? Europe? The North Woods? Only The Shadow knows . . .

Kenneth Grant is a writer and popular culture enthusiast who began writing for our website in early 2022. He particularly enjoys the hero pulps and has written about pulp villains, Ron Hill’s documentary, We Are Doc Savage, Talking Pulp with Craig McDonald, and more. We hope you enjoy his work.

This week, we’re featuring the February 15, 1936 issue of The Shadow Magazine, with cover art by George Rozen. His painting of Beaver Luke, a man who is “friendly with many beavers,” illustrates “The North Woods Mystery,” by Walter B. Gibson.
