PulpFest

Starting Monday — A Daily PulpFest Post!

Since May 1, we’ve had an announcement about this year’s PulpFest three days each week. Starting next week, we’ll have a post every weekday — Monday through Friday — with an occasional weekend post.  We’ll be maintaining this pace through August 7, the day after the 2023 convention ends.

In future posts, we’ll discuss our PulpFest 2023 dealers, highlights from this year’s issue of The Pulpster, take a look at new books premiering at PulpFest, and more.

And don’t forget to visit our auction page. In addition to over 150 lots consigned by the Joecks Estate and Scott and Linda Edwards of Dearly Departed Books, we’re adding member submissions to our online bidding page. Check out lot #93, an exceedingly scarce ink stamp pulp premium from “The Shadow Club.” Offered through The Shadow Magazine for just a few months, these rarely come up for sale.

So what are you waiting for? Don’t live on the edge! Register now for PulpFest 2023 by clicking the “Registration” button at the top of this page. Become a member of this “Summer’s Pulp Con.” Advance registrations will be ending on Sunday, July 30.

If you would like to register as a dealer for this year’s PulpFest, we’ve run out of tables. Please reach out to Jack Cullers at jack@pulpfest.com to be added to our wait list.

While you’re at it, you can reserve a room at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry. Simply click the Book a Room button, also found at the top of this page. To book a room by telephone you can call 1-800-222-8733. When calling, be sure to mention PulpFest to get the special convention rate. Given the convention’s popularity, we urge everyone to book a hotel room as soon as possible.Currently, there are only a few rooms with king beds left at the convention rate. Click here for other options.

If you’re looking for a roommate, contact Jack Cullers at jassways@woh.rr.com. He may be able to help.

We look forward to seeing you August 3 – 6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Mars, Pennsylvania. PulpFest will be celebrating the centennials of Weird Tales, Sport Story Magazine, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and “The Moon Maid.” We’ll also be saluting ninety years of Conan, Doc Savage, The Spider, and other great pulp heroes.

And don’t forget about the other terrific conventions that will be held in conjunction with this year’s PulpFest — ERBFest 2023 and FarmerCon XVIII. That’s three conventions for the price of one!

To learn more about our programming, please click the Schedule button at the top of this page.

Our PulpFest 2023 printed postcard has been adapted by PulpFest advertising director William Lampkin from The Phantom Detective for January 1934, with cover by Rafael M. DeSoto, and Thrilling Sports for Winter 1947, with cover by Rudolph Belarski. Additional artwork is by Mark Wheatley.

Our FarmerCon XVIII image has been adapted by William Lampkin from James Bama’s iconic cover art for the Bantam Book edition of Doc Savage #1 — The Man of Bronze. It was first published in 1964.
