PulpFest is a top venue for writers and publishers to roll out their newest titles. Below, you’ll read about some of the books that will be appearing for the first time at this summer’s pulp con.
At this year’s PulpFest, Chris and David Kalb of Age of Aces Books will be releasing two thrilling collections from the tattered pages of the air war pulps. The first is the fourth and final collection of Donald E. Keyhoe’s Devildog Squadron stories, originally published in Sky Birds. Also appearing will be volume two in the collected adventures of Arch Whitehouse’s Casket Crew. These stories originally ran in Aces, Wings, and other pulps.
Leonard Apa, a member of the International Thriller Writers, will be selling his debut novel, Introducing the Scarlet Scrapper, at this year’s PulpFest. A special education teacher from New Jersey, Leonard has contributed short fiction to Caped: An Anthology of Superhero Tales, Deadman’s Tome Campfire Tales, Book One, the debut issue of Creepy Campfire Quarterly, and The Good Fight 5: The Good Fight. A familiar face at PulpFest, Jim Beard of Becky Books will have several new books at this year’s PulpFest. New to the convention will be the fifth volume of D. C. Jones and Adventure Command International, the world-famous band of explorers and troubleshooters who make danger their business across the globe. Also appearing will be Shudder Stories: Corpus Vile, an anthology of weird-menace tales by Beard and authors Brian K. Morris and Frank Schildiner. Visit the Becky Books Facebook page to learn more.
Author Brian Bohnett of Mad Kings Publishing returns to PulpFest for his third visit as a dealer. Be sure to check out Them Was the Days: Edgar Rice Burroughs and the History of the Michigan Military Academy, Tarzan Big Little Books, and The Remarkable Enid Markey: First Lady of the Tarzan Films. Brian is an active member of the Greater West Bloomfield Historical Society and The Burroughs Bibliophiles.
Writer Wayne Carey, who writes in a range of genres, will be debuting the newest installment in his series of Johnny Falco adventures from Bold Venture Press. These mysteries, set in China during the 1930’s, bring back the thrill of the old pulps. Watch for The Gold Buddha and its companion titles, Death Waits in Shanghai and Death Comes to Hong Kong, at PulpFest 2026. Wayne will be selling his books in our foyer, leading to our dealers’ room.
Mike Chomko Books will be representing Stark House Press at this year’s PulpFest. He’ll have new titles by Vern Chute, David Goodis, William O’Farrell, and other noir writers, as well as a brand new collection of short novels originally published by Lion Books. Mike will also have the latest offerings from Steeger Books, including five new volumes in their Black Mask Library; a pair of collections from Adventure magazine, one featuring the swashbuckling exploits of F. R. Buckley’s popular Luigi Caradosso; and Edgar Rice Burroughs Bibliography: The British Editions, a massive non-fiction work compiled by Laurence G. Dunn.
Although ERB Books won’t physically be at PulpFest 2026, the publisher will be with us in spirit. Thanks to the generosity of publisher Jim Gerlach, we’ll be raffling off a copy of Pirates of Venus — The Illustrators Edition, the first book in the Amtor series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The book features over 100 illustrations by a dazzling array of artists, including Daren Bader, Gary Gianni, Thomas Grindberg, Richard Hescox, Michael Kaluta, Doug Klauba, Mark Schultz, Laurence Schwinger, William Stout, Mark Wheatley, and Thomas Yeates. And if you don’t win the grand prize, a copy of Robert Zeuschner’s masterful Edgar Rice Burroughs: The Bibliography will also be given away.

Ohio-based Flinch! Books will have copies of their most recent release by author Jim Beard. Sgt. Janus and the House That Loved Death is the fourth volume in Beard’s series about an occult detective inspired by the likes of Carnacki the Ghost Finder and other supernatural sleuths. They’ll also have copies of John Bruening’s popular adventures of The Midnight Guardian. Set during the years of The Great Depression, Bruening’s series is evocative of The Shadow, Doc Savage, and other great pulp heroes.
Martin Grams is an American pop culture historian who has written extensively on radio, television, and film. He’s the author of The Green Hornet: A History of Radio, Motion Pictures, Comics and Television, King Kong: The 1933 Radio Scripts, The Radio Adventures of Sax Rohmer’s Fu Manchu, The Shadow: The History and Mystery of the Radio Program, 1930-1954, and many other titles. Martin will have copies of these as well as his latest book, Clayton Moore and The Legend of the Lone Ranger, 1970-1984, co-authored by Terry Salomonson.
Let’s welcome author, comic book scriptwriter, and intelligence analyst Allan Liska of Green Archer Comics back for another PulpFest. Green Archer Comics is a family-run publisher that has been reviving legends since 2023! They specialize in Golden Age and public domain characters, including Buck Rogers, The Clock, The Green Archer, The Press Guardian, and Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. Launching this year is The Saint, with the first issue based on Meet The Tiger, the original Saint novel by Leslie Charteris. It will feature cover art by the legendary Mike Grell. They’ll also have some of their more contemporary works, including Cryptid Hacker Force and Newbie-ginnings: A Cyber Security Comics Anthology. Since graduating from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1982, Ron Hill has worked as a cartoonist, illustrator, caricaturist, creative director, and author. In 2024, Ron debuted We Are Doc Savage: A Documentary on Fandom, a feature-length documentary — two years in production — that explores the history of Doc Savage fandom by interviewing dozens of collectors, creators, and characters who are keeping the legacy of The Man of Bronze alive. Ron will be manning the Doc Con 2026 tables at PulpFest where he will have DVDs of his great film available for $25,
Please welcome Mystery Writers of America-nominated author of fiction and non-fiction Gary Lovisi to his first PulpFest. He has written all manner of pulp-related crime and science fiction, such as his Vic Powers and Griff & Fats hard-boiled cop stories, and his five Jon Kirk of Ares interplanetary romance novels. His latest work is The Sicilian series, which takes place during the reign of Caesar Augustus in Ancient Rome. Under his Gryphon Books imprint he has published hundreds of books and magazines, including his book collector magazine, Paperback Parade, now in its 40th year of publication. His wife, Lucille, is an accomplished artist who contributes wonderful covers and other works of art to many of his writing projects.
Hunter Lyon s an Army Engineer Officer with the United States Army Reserve, and an author. His novel, Attack of The Specter!, will be making its world premiere at PulpFest 2026. Paperback copies will only be available at the convention. “Brooklyn, 1953. Gangsters, predators, and Soviet spies rule from the shadows. One man puts on a mask and answers in lead.” A Cold War commando/noir adventure series, The Specter is a veteran of World War II and Korea, who takes the offensive on the fight against the Reds. Award-winning novelist, journalist, and editor Craig McDonald will have the latest volume in his highly entertaining series, The Adventures of Zana O’Savin. A pastiche of classic pulp characters such as Pat & Doc Savage, The Shadow, The Avenger, and the Domino Lady, the O’Savin stories debuted in 2022. He’ll have the fifth book in the series — The Last Crusade — at this year’s PulpFest.
Team O’Savin braves annihilation in a three-front war: The Free Crofters are a forgotten people hiding in plain sight; The Scarlet Duchess is a potentially ageless, shadowy enigma committed to Russian world domination; and both may be in league with the highest office in our land. You’ll find that and more in the harrowing climax of this character-driven pulp adventure.
Alan McGill is a self-published author born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. This will be his first PulpFest. A former police officer and private investigator, Alan drew inspiration from his own cases and personal experiences to create his futuristic noir detective thriller series Bumper City. He recently released Rolling Bones in which his hard-nosed private eye works to stop mass killings and violence in Bumper City. Alan has plans for many more Bumper City novels, well into the future. A mainstay at PulpFest since 2009, author William Patrick Maynard will be debuting brand new hardcover and trade paperback editions of his two out-of-print Fu Manchu continuation novels, as well as the first publication anywhere of his third Fu Manchu thriller, The Triumph of Fu Manchu. A suspenseful, action-packed thriller that moves from Burma to Japan to South America, the exotic locales serve as the backdrop to the mythical and mystical combat between Dr. Fu Manchu and Fo-Hi, the villain at the heart of Sax Rohmer’s 1918 novel, The Golden Scorpion. Set in 1934 between Sax Rohmer’s The Trail of Fu Manchu and President Fu Manchu, Maynard’s long-awaited third authorized Fu Manchu adventure also includes a previously unpublished Foreword by the late Rick Lai.
Fantasy and science fiction publisher Meteor House will be back at PulpFest, hosting the 2026 FarmerCon. Pick up your copies of the first hardcover editions of Philip José Farmer’s Hadon of Ancient Opar and Flight to Opar. Both volumes include bonus material, the original Roy Krenkel interior illustrations, and more. Meteor House will also debut Riverworld Odyssey at this year’s PulpFest/FarmerCon. A nearly 600-page collection exploring the history of Farmer’s Riverworld series, the book features cover art by Mark Wheatley.
