Come to this year’s PulpFest to learn all of the latest news and ideas coming from the fertile minds at Edgar Rice Burroughs, Incorporated.
From its headquarters in Tarzana, California, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., administers the intellectual property of American author Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the twentieth century’s most prolific and enduring writers. Burroughs’ 80+ novels and 40+ short stories have been adapted into sixty films and 250 television episodes, and have been featured in comic books, video games, apparel, and other merchandise.
Standing in this year for the company’s Vice President of Publishing, Christopher Paul Carey, and Vice President of Operations Cathy Mann Wilbanks, will be celebrated author Win Scott Eckert. The authorized legacy author of Philip José Farmer’s Patricia Wildman series (The Evil in Pemberley House, The Scarlet Jaguar), as well as the coauthor with Farmer of the Doc Caliban/Secrets of the Nine novel, The Monster on Hold, Win is a lifelong Edgar Rice Burroughs reader.
Eckert wrote the authorized Edgar Rice Burroughs Universe novels, Tarzan: Battle for Pellucidar and Korak at the Earth’s Core. Pellucidar: Land of Awful Shadow and Tarzan Unleashed are forthcoming. His other professional credits include authorized tales of Avenger, the Green Hornet, Honey West, the Lone Ranger, the Phantom, and Zorro, as well as short stories featuring the Domino Lady, the Scarlet Pimpernel, and Sherlock Holmes. His latest short story, “She-Devil of Paris,” saw print in Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2025. He lives in Woodland Park, Colorado, with his wife and a bevy of four-legged family members.
Please join PulpFest 2026 at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 31, as we welcome Win and his surprise guests to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry in Mars, Pennsylvania, for the latest updates on the Edgar Rice Burroughs Universe, the ERB Authorized Library, and other projects inspired by the great man’s work. He will also be exploring some of their recent and upcoming book releases. These include a brand-new edition of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic novel of post-apocalyptic Europe, Beyond Thirty, restoring material cut from his original manuscript; the next three volumes in the original Barsoom saga by ERB, with cover art by Joe Jusko; and Trailblazer: The Autobiography of Tarzan’s Creator, the never-before-published life story of Edgar Rice Burroughs in his own words.
Of course, there will also be some great door prizes. But remember, you need to be in attendance at this presentation to win! Many thanks to Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., for their generous donations to PulpFest 2026.
Our “The Universe According to Edgar Rice Burroughs” presentation is all part of this year’s salute to Edgar Rice Burroughs and his work.
Additionally, Henry G. Franke III — the editor of The Burroughs Bibliophiles and The Gridley Wave newsletter for The Burroughs Bibliophiles — and the multi-award-winning illustrator, TV development artist, and graphic novelist, Mark Wheatley, will discuss the life and work of Robert Kennedy Abbett, one of the leading magazine and paperback illustrators of the late 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Henry will also be hosting an art show dedicated to the artist in the Chestnut Room at the DoubleTree on July 31 and August 1. Abbett is fondly remembered for his covers painted for Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom and Tarzan paperbacks.
