On the day the United States honors its workers, the PulpFest promotional staff is taking the day off.
Planning is well underway for PulpFest 2025. The convention will run from August 7 – 10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry in Mars, Pennsylvania. We’ll be saluting three “Masters of Blood and Thunder” — Edgar Rice Burroughs, Rafael Sabatini, and Edgar Wallace. Next year will be the 150th anniversary of the births of all three authors. Burroughs — in fact — turned 149 on September 1 of this year.
So happy belated birthday to ERB!
But that’s not all! PulpFest 2025 will salute 90 years of pulp villains. Doctor Death, Doctor Satan, and The Mysterious Wu Fang all debuted way back in 1935! We’ll also celebrate the masters of Adventure magazine and who knows what else?
All this, plus ERBFest 2025, FarmerCon XX, and the long-awaited return of Doc Con! That’s 4 conventions for the price of one, starting next year at PulpFest!
As always, expect a terrific dealers’ room and superb programming. We’ve already lined up a lot of great presentations, plus appearances by contemporary creators inspired by the pulp fiction and art of the early twentieth century. PulpFest 2025 will be the 53rd convening of summer’s pulp con.

Our featured image is excerpted from W. H. James’ cover art for the January 1, 1920 issue of Street & Smith’s The Popular Magazine.
Our lead image is Stockton Mulford’s cover for the October 8, 1921 issue of Argosy All-Story Weekly, illustrating the first segment of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ four-part serial entitled “The Efficiency Expert.” It’s the story of a former “Big Man On Campus” who moves from job to job following college, before landing a position as an “efficiency expert” for a money-losing factory. It’s one of Burroughs’ few novels set in the contemporary America of his time.
Now sit back and enjoy one of our Edgar Rice Burroughs videos from the PulpFest YouTube Channel.
