PulpFest

Selling at PulpFest 2023

If you’re a dealer who specializes in pulp magazines, genre fiction, vintage paperbacks, first edition hardcovers, original art, series books, dime novels, men’s adventure, true crime, digest, or slick magazines, Big Little Books, B-movies, serials, and related collectibles, old-time-radio shows, or Golden, Silver, or Bronze Age comic books, then PulpFest is for you.

However, PulpFest is not only a terrific venue to sell vintage material, it’s also a great place to market science fiction, mystery and detective fiction, adventure or western fiction, and more. The people who attend our convention love genre fiction and art.

Publishers such as Adventure HouseAge of Aces, Murania Press, and New Texture do well selling their pulp reprints and related materials at PulpFest. So do resellers such as Mike Chomko, Books. Contemporary authors and publishers such as John BrueningWill MurrayEdgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and Meteor House have likewise found PulpFest to be a great event for selling their contemporary and classic genre fiction. After all, our afternoon programming centers around popular genre fiction and art.

The dealers’ room at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry accommodates well over 100 six-foot tables. And PulpFest’s fees are very affordable. Island tables are $100. All of our wall tables have been reserved. All dealers and their helpers are also required to purchase full weekend memberships. Advance memberships cost $40 – 50.

Although wall tables are gone, there are still plenty of island tables available. Our dealers’ room at the DoubleTree is quite large. If you’d like to be considered for a wall table — if any become available due to cancellations — mention it on your registration form. You will be added to a waitlist for wall tables and charged for the price difference at the convention.

You can click here to download the convention’s 2023 registration form. For additional registration information, please click the “registration” button at the top of our website. Although wall tables are still listed on the registration form, none are currently available.

To reserve a room at the DoubleTree by Hilton, please click the “Book a Room” button at the top of the PulpFest webpage. You can also reserve a room by calling 1-800-222-8733. Be sure to mention PulpFest to receive the special convention rate of $129 plus tax per night.

Two complimentary breakfast coupons are included in our hotel’s nightly rate as well as free wifi and parking. Rest assured, PulpFest is very appreciative of all the dealers who help to reduce the convention’s substantial costs by staying at the DoubleTree and supporting our host hotel.

Our dealers’ room will be open at 9:30 am on Friday and Saturday, August 4 – 5, and remain open until 4:30 pm. It will also be open on Sunday, August 6, from 9 am until 1:30 pm. And don’t forget about our early-bird shopping hours on Thursday, August 3, from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. Dedicated fans of popular culture will be there to enjoy four hours of early shopping.

The convention will be promoted through Internet advertising and postcard giveaways at bookstores and comic shops, collectibles and pop culture conventions, and other venues. PulpFest will also be advertising in Alter EgoMen’s Adventure Quarterly, Paperback Parade, and other publications, including a number of convention program books. We’ll also be listed on convention calendars such as Fancons.com and Upcoming Cons as well as the event calendars at Pittsburgh City Paper, Positively Pittsburgh, and other local websites.

In early July, we’ll be posting about all of the dealers who will be selling at PulpFest 2023. Our marketing and programming director, Mike Chomko, will be putting these posts together and releasing them through our homepage and social media sites.

Our PulpFest 2023 web card has been adapted by PulpFest advertising director William Lampkin from Walter Baumhofer’s original cover painting for the March 1933 number of Doc Savage Magazine, a Street & Smith pulp magazine. Our featured image, painted by Rafael DeSoto, was originally done for the October 1941 issue of Popular Publications’ The Spider.  We’ll be celebrating the 90th anniversary of Doc Savage, The Spider, and other great pulp heroes at this year’s convention.
