PulpFest

Starting Today — A Daily PulpFest Post!

Since May 10, we’ve had an announcement about PulpFest 2021  three days each week. Beginning today, we’ll have at least one post every Monday through Friday. We’ll be maintaining this pace through the end of the convention on August 22.

We may even feature an occasional weekend post. There won’t be many of those as our hardworking staff needs a day off every now and then.

In future posts, we’ll discuss our PulpFest 2021 dealers, highlights from this year’s issue of THE PULPSTER, take a look at new books premiering at PulpFest, and much more. So what are you waiting for? Don’t live on the edge! Register now for PulpFest 2021 by clicking the “Registration” button at the top of this page. Become a member of this “Summer’s Pulp Con.” Advance registrations will be ending on Sunday, August 15.

While you’re at it, you can reserve a room at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry. Simply click the Book a Room button, also found at the top of this page. Alternately, you can call 1-800-222-8733 to book a room by telephone. When calling, be sure to mention PulpFest to get the special convention rate. Given the convention’s popularity, we urge everyone to book a hotel room as soon as possibleThe convention rate is available through July 27.

And don’t forget about ERBFest 2021! This summer’s convention for fans of Edgar Rice Burroughs and his work will be held at PulpFest 2021. We’ll have ERBFest programming beginning on Thursday, August 19, and running through Saturday, August 21. Vando! Vando!

We look forward to seeing you August 19 – 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Mars, Pennsylvania. PulpFest will be celebrating the anniversaries of two trend-setting Street & Smith rough-paper magazines. Both LOVE STORY and THE SHADOW MAGAZINE played significant roles in the evolution of American popular culture and genre fiction. Please join us for “Love in the Shadows” at PulpFest 2021.

Our registration director, Dr. Satan, is glad to see that you’ve registered for PulpFest 2021. Your payment is in hand. He asks that you also tell your friends about “Summer’s AMAZING Pulp Con.” He’d like to list many more names in his Black Book.

LOVE STORY and THE SHADOW MAGAZINE won’t be the only topics at this year’s PulpFest. We’ll also be looking at Margaret Brundage, the premier cover artist for WEIRD TALES.  This talented woman dressed and undressed countless Paul Ernst, Edmond Hamilton, Robert E. Howard, C. L. Moore Seabury Quinn, and Jack Williamson characters on 66 covers for “The Unique Magazine” between 1932 and 1945, making her the most in-demand cover artist for the pulp. Pictured here is an adaptation of Brundage’s cover painting for the January 1936 WEIRD TALES. Click the “Programming” button at the top of this page to learn more.
