The PulpFest organizing committee — Mike Chomko, Jack and Sally Cullers, Bill Lampkin, Sara Light-Waller, William Patrick Maynard, and Barry Traylor — would like to wish everyone a healthy and happy holiday season.
We hope you’ll all be unwrapping a PulpFest 2021 membership during this year’s holidays. But if it’s not meant to be — maybe you were a little naughty — be sure to mend your ways and treat yourself to another great time at next year’s convention.
Although we can’t be sure what’s in store for 2021, we are certainly hopeful that the year will bring us much brighter times than we’ve experienced in 2020. We can all certainly use some puppy love!
PulpFest will celebrate the centennial of Street & Smith’s LOVE STORY MAGAZINE, the 90th anniversary of THE SHADOW, A DETECTIVE MAGAZINE, and more at its 2021 convention. (James Clark Work began to paint covers for LOVE STORY MAGAZINE in 1939. He created over thirty covers for the popular Street & Smith romance pulp, including the December 21, 1940 issue. Work’s covers for LOVE STORY are often bright and cheerful, depicting joy and young love. The artist continued to contribute cover paintings to the magazine until late 1942 when it began to rely increasingly on photographic covers.)
