For the past few months, Airship 27 Productions has been putting together a very special novel — HOLMES AND HOUDINI. Written by award-winning writer I. A. Watson and featuring black-and-white interior illustrations by the publisher’s art director, Rob Davis, and cover art by the respected comic book artist Chad Hardin, the book was to be released at PulpFest 2016.
Unavoidable events have made it impossible for Hardin to meet Airship’s PulpFest deadline. After putting their heads together, the “new pulp” aces of Airship 27 — Ron Fortier and Rob Davis — have decided to turn their disappointment into a very unique opportunity for loyal fans of the publisher: Rob is going to create his own cover for HOLMES & HOUDINI, but it will not be sold to the general public. Rather, once the book is assembled, only fifteen copies will be printed and no more. These fifteen are being done exclusively for Pulpfest 2016. The convention will be the only place you can buy a copy. Rob’s cover will not be revealed or publicized and only Pulpfest attendees will get to see it.
Once Chad Hardin’s official cover is turned in, Airship will go back to the printers and officially publish the book, making it available through its usual sources, via Amazon in both paperback and on Kindle. If any of the fifteen special editions remain unsold, they will be destroyed or auctioned off for charity. But again, this special edition will only be available at Pulpfest 2016. Once the fifteen copies are gone, that’s it.
Airship 27 Productions has enjoyed its long association with Pulpfest from day one and hopes that this one-of-a-kind collector’s edition of HOLMES & HOUDINI — by I. A. Watson with interior and cover art by Rob Davis — will provide some added excitement for this year’s show, already lining up to be one “AMAZING Pulp Con!”
