PulpFest is a top venue for writers and publishers to roll out their newest titles. Following are some of the new books that will be featured at this summer’s pulp con.
William Patrick Maynard is the author of the first authorized Fu Manchu thrillers in nearly forty years. He will be signing and selling copies of both of his currently out-of-print Fu Manchu books. Bill will be moderating our panel on “Personal Demons and the Creative Mind” and is also one of our nominees for the 2025 Munsey Award.
Fantasy and science fiction publisher Meteor House will be back at PulpFest, hosting the 2025 FarmerCon. Pick up your copy of Savageology, a superamalgamated volume collecting Philip José Farmer’s writings about Doc, and Time’s Last Gift, a prequel to Farmer’s Ancient Opar series and a big fan favorite. These new Meteor House editions will debut at this year’s PulpFest/FarmerCon.
Charles F. Millhouse is an award-winning author and publisher who published his first book in 1999 and hasn’t looked back. He has written over forty published works, including novels and short stories. From the 1930’s adventures of Captain Hawklin; through the gritty paranormal old west town of New Kingdom; to the far-off future in the Origin Trilogy, Charles’ imagination is boundless. He breathes life into his characters, brings worlds alive, and sends his readers on journeys they won’t soon forget. At this year’s PulpFest, Charles will have copies of Stormgate Press’ Quick Reads, a thrilling collection of short fiction books that delve into the captivating world of the enigmatic Purple Mystique, the sharp-eyed Night Vision, the rugged and resourceful tramp steamer captain, Zane Carrington, and other entertaining pulp characters.
Brian K. Morris has been a freelance writer for over twenty years. A frequent guest at comic and book shows throughout the Midwest, he’s also an independent publisher, award-winning playwright, occasional actor, YouTuber, and a former mortician’s assistant. His books include The Original Skyman Battles the Master of Steam — which has been compared to Doc Savage — Santastein, The Terrors, and Vulcana: Rebirth of the Champion.
Lamont Award winner Ed Hulse of Murania Press will have the latest edition of Blood ‘n’ Thunder, the journal of adventure, mystery, and melodrama in American popular culture of the early 20th century. He’ll also have copies of his recent book, The Art of Classic Crime and Mystery Movies, released in May by Schiffer Publishing. It’s a visual journey through Hollywood’s classic crime and mystery movies from the industry’s earliest days to the gritty films of the 1970s.
The author of over seventy novels and assorted books — including The All-New Wild Adventures of Doc Savage and other popular series — Will Murray will have his latest exploration of Walter B. Gibson’s iconic pulp hero, Knight of Darkness: The Legend of The Shadow, at this year’s PulpFest. In this wide-ranging volume, the pulp historian delves into The Shadow’s many media manifestations, exposing some of his darkest secrets. The book includes in-depth interviews with his creator, Walter B. Gibson, as well as numerous illustrations by Michael Wm. Kaluta.
Bob Deis and Wyatt Doyle are the co-editors of The Men’s Adventure Library book series, published by New Texture. It collects classic stories and artwork from the men’s adventure magazines that were published from the 1950s through the 1970s. They’ll be selling copies of their books, including Gil Cohen: Inside/Out, part of a historic, multi-volume series showcasing the artist’s men’s adventure magazine covers and interior illustrations spanning three decades. Will Oliver is the author of Robert E. Howard: The Life and Times of a Texas Author, published by the University of North Texas Press. He will be selling copies of his new, 600-page biography and other books at this year’s PulpFest. A professor of criminal justice at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, please welcome Will to his first PulpFest.
Point of Impact Publishing has been in business since 2022, publishing new action/adventure fiction in the vein of the classic Executioner, Destroyer, and Death Merchant series. Inspired by the short pulp novels you could buy on drugstore spinner racks, Editor-in-Chief Joe Nelson has proudly continued the grand tradition of series fiction with the Frenzi action series by R. J. Calder and the Parker-inspired John Lash series by Clint Reno. This is his first visit to PulpFest, venturing out from the wilds of Vermont to offer the full lineup of their books, and he couldn’t be more thrilled!
Launching his first year at Pulpfest, Bill Cunningham of Pulp 2.0 will have a wide selection of pulpy offerings at his table, including the latest volumes of Men’s Adventure Quarterly and The Art of Ron Lesser. Since 2010, Pulp 2.0 has specialized in designing and publishing new editions to preserve and enhance our pulp culture. An American author and graphic artist, Wayne Reinagel is the author/illustrator of the Pulp Heroes and Modern Marvels series of pulp adventure novels and short stories. As the artist of the books, he has provided seventy-five full-color interior illustrations featuring faux covers of non-existent magazines, mimicking the style of art from the pulp era. A member of the Pulp Factory writers and artists group, Reinagel’s classic pulp revival novels and short stories are published by Knightraven Studios. We look forward to Wayne’s return to PulpFest.
World Fantasy Award winner Darrell Schweitzer has been publishing in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction fields since the early 1970s. He will be selling copies of his two-volume retrospective, The Best of Darrell Schweitzer, The Children of Chorazin and Other Strange Denizens — a Lovecraftian/weird short story collection — The Robert E. Howard Reader, Living with the Dead — a Shirley Jackson Award finalist — and anthologies that he has edited, including The Mountains of Madness Revealed, Shadows Out of Time, and the recently released Cold War Cthulhu. The Shadowed Circle launched in 2021 and is the only international publication to focus on The Shadow in pulp novels, comic books, radio episodes, film & television, and various entertainment memorabilia. Each issue features articles, illustrations, interviews, spotlights, reviews, and more. In addition to The Shadowed Circle, the organization also publishes books about The Shadow, including The Shadowed Circle Compendium and the 50th anniversary edition of Frank Eisgruber’s Gangland’s Doom — The Shadow of the Pulps. Consulting Editor, Tim King will be manning their table at PulpFest, right next to legendary Shadowed Circle contributor Will Murray.
Author Michael Stradford will have copies of the deluxe edition of Steve Holland: The Torn Shirt Sessions. Stradford’s book reproduces the reference photos from the Doc Savage paperbacks, painted by the legendary James Bama, Bob Larkin, and Joe DeVito, as well as the available paintings. Printed on heavy 157 gsm paper, these photos have never looked better. Michael will also have copies of Steve Holland: The World’s Greatest Illustration Model — a career-spanning survey of Holland’s broad career, rich with interviews including painters, family members, photographers, and his fellow models — and other books from The Steve Holland Library. Veritas Entertainment is a production company and publishing house specializing in Men’s Adventure and Pulp Fiction. Founders and authors L. S. Goozdich and Nathanael Hummel, who are also the hosts of the Men’s Adventure Fiction Podcast, will be selling at PulpFest for the first time. They are both incredibly passionate about telling great stories that are filled with action and heart. In such books as Fire In The Tall Grass and Treasure Is My Trade, they endeavor to do their part to bring Pulp and Men’s Adventure back to the forefront of fiction!
Inducted into The Overstreet Hall of Fame in July 2017, Mark Wheatley is a longtime Edgar Rice Burroughs fan and admirer of the work of Philip José Farmer. He holds holds the Eisner, Inkpot, Golden Lion, Mucker, Gem, and Speakeasy awards and nominations for the Harvey award and the Ignatz award. Mark and his wife Carol will have several new art prints for sale at PulpFest 2025 and some of Mark’s books, including Nucleus X, presenting a wealth of illustrated stories, comics, and more. It features several portfolios of Mark’s art, such as his Robert E. Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs portfolios.
Richard C. White is a science fiction/fantasy/fantasy noir/action-adventure/non-fiction author. His latest release, On Wings of Steel, a steampunk novel, was released in April 2025. Other works include Chasing Danger: The Case Files of Theron Chase, Harbinger of Darkness, For a Few Gold Pieces More, and Terra Incognito, a non-fiction book on world-building. A member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers, please welcome Richard to his first PulpFest.

Our featured image is excerpted from Arnold Friberg’s cover art for the November 16, 1940 issue of Liberty, illustrating Sax Rohmer’s novel, “Fu Manchu and the Panama Canal,” a 12-part serial that was later published in book form as The Island of Fu Manchu. The story involves Fu Manchu’s attempts to disrupt the United States’ navy during World War II by launching attacks from a hidden stronghold in the Caribbean.

Jeffrey Ray Hayes of Plasmafire Graphics created the cover art for the latest volume of Charles F. Millhouse’s adventures of The Purple Mystique, a woman shrouded in mystery and driven by a relentless thirst for revenge. The series is part of Stormgate Press’ Quick Reads series, a thrilling collection of short fiction books that delve into the captivating world of the pulp characters created by Millhouse.
Adding to his growing collection of books about The Shadow, Will Murray will debut Knight of Darkness: The Legend of the Shadow at PulpFest 2025. The book features cover art by Joe DeVito, who has painted and sculpted many of Pop Culture’s most recognizable icons, including King Kong, Tarzan, Doc Savage, and classic super heroes like Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man.
Co-editor and designer Bill Cunningham adapted the cover art for Men’s Adventure Quarterly #12 from Glenn Grohe’s cover art for the March 1954 issue of Bluebook. Born in Chicago, Glenn Grohe was an American painter and illustrator who specialized in commercial art such as magazine covers and product advertisements. His best-known work is a lithograph of a German soldier created in 1942 for the Office for Emergency Management: Division of Information entitled “He’s Watching You.”
Michael Stradford’s Steve Holland: The Torn Shirt Sessions gets the deluxe treatment in 2025. The cover features the celebrated model posing as Doc Savage, complete with a torn shirt, jodhpurs, and riding boots.
Our final image is Robert A. Brown’s & John Wooley’s Beauty and the Bund: Demons in DC, the action-packed supernatural sequel to their Cleansing Trilogy. The cover art is by Jonathan Wooley, whose acclaimed designs for Team Covenant have left a major mark on the gaming world. His work has enhanced popular tabletop titles like Netrunner, Arkham Horror, and Marvel Champions, making him a rising star in the industry.
