PulpFest

Starting Today — A Daily PulpFest Post!

Since May 1, we’ve had an announcement about this year’s PulpFest three days each week. Starting today, we’ll have a post every weekday — Monday through Friday — with an occasional weekend post.  We’ll maintain this pace through August 5, the day after the 2024 convention ends.

In future posts, we’ll discuss our PulpFest 2024 dealers, highlights from this year’s issue of The Pulpster, look at new books premiering at PulpFest, and more.

And don’t forget to visit our auction page where you’ll find nearly 300 lots of pulps, magazines, books, and more up for bids. If you can’t attend PulpFest 2024, you can place an online bid through the end of this week.

So what are you waiting for? Don’t live on the edge! Register now for PulpFest 2024 by clicking the “Registration” button at the top of this page. Become a member of this “Summer’s Pulp Con.” Advance registrations will be ending on Sunday, July 28.

If you want to register as a dealer for this year’s PulpFest, we’ve run out of tables. Please reach out to Jack Cullers at jack@pulpfest.com to be added to our waitlist.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to book a room. Our host hotel, the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry has sold out. But you can still click our book a room link on our website. There’s always a chance of cancellations. You may also be able to reserve a room by calling 1-724-776-6900. To receive the special convention rate of $136 plus tax per night, you must mention that you are a PulpFest attendee or use the code CDT91J.

If you’re looking for a roommate, contact Jack Cullers at jack@pulpfest.com. He may be able to help.

We look forward to seeing you August 1 – 4 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Mars, Pennsylvania. PulpFest will be celebrating “Spice, Spies, Shaw, and More” at our 2024 convention. Please click the schedule button on our website to learn more about our programming.

And don’t forget about the other terrific conventions that will be held in conjunction with this year’s PulpFest — ERBFest 2024 and FarmerCon XIX. That’s three conventions for the price of one!

To keep abreast of the convention, please bookmark pulpfest.com. You can also follow us on FacebookInstagram, and X/Twitter! And don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to see our videos on pulp heroes, artist Doug Klauba, and more.

Our featured image was excerpted from H. J. Ward’s original cover art for the May 1935 issue of Spicy-Adventure Stories while our lead image was adapted by William Lampkin from Ward’s original cover art for the August 1940 issue of Spicy Mystery. We’ll be celebrating 90 years of Harry Donenfeld’s “Spicy” pulps — the forerunners to Superman and DC Comics — at this year’s PulpFest.

Our final image was adapted by William Lampkin from Frank R. Paul’s cover art for the February 1927 issue of Amazing Stories, illustrating the first segment of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “The Land That Time Forgot.” PulpFest and ERBFest 2024 will celebrate the centennial of the first book publication of The Land That Time Forgot and the 50th anniversary of the film version of Burroughs’ adventure classic.
