PulpFest 50 may still be six months off, but the 2022 pulp and paperback season will get started in March.
Pulp Adventurecon returns to Florida
The Florida edition of Pulp Adventurecon returns on Saturday, March 12. This one-day event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Fort Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port, 180 SW 18th Avenue in Dania Beach, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5.
Bold Venture Press, run by Rich Harvey and Audrey Parente, has also hosted Pulp Adventurecon in New Jersey for nearly 20 years. Both shows host collectors, artists, authors, and vendors of rare pulp magazines, Big Little Books, dime novels, vintage paperbacks, Golden and Silver Age comic books, vintage movies & memorabilia, pinup magazines, original art, and related paper collectibles. Pulp Adventurecon emphasizes collectibles from 1900 to 1970. However, you will usually find material created before and after that time period at the convention.

The Best Bargain in LA!
The annual Los Angeles Vintage Paperback Collectors Show will take place on Sunday, March 20, at the Glendale Civic Auditorium at 1401 North Verdugo Road in Glendale, California from 9 AM to 4 PM. Featuring an admission price of five bucks, it’s the best bargain in town!
Now in its 42nd year, the convention was started by Tom Lesser in 1980. It has grown to be the world’s largest vintage paperback gathering. The 2022 show will feature over eighty dealer tables with tens of thousands of vintage paperbacks for sale, from inexpensive filler copies to the rarest collectibles in the hobby. In addition to collectible paperbacks, you’ll also find pulp magazines, original illustration art, hardbound science fiction and mystery books, and more. There is no telling what might show up! Even with a crowd of collectors around, it’s possible to be the one who discovers a hidden gem at the event. This year, you could be that lucky person!
Meet Authors and Artists
Over the years, the show has featured an exciting roster of guest authors and artists. It has included such notables as Poul Anderson, Ray Bradbury, Frederik Pohl, and A. E. Van Vogt (all for over 10 years); Robert Bloch (18 years); and William F. Nolan (probably the show’s champ, with over 33 years of appearances). This year’s show will feature approximately fifty authors and artists talking with attendees and signing their works for free! Click here for a schedule of the show’s guests.
You’ll find more information on this great collectors’ gathering at the convention’s website, its Facebook page, or by calling Tom Lesser at 818-855-1786. While you’re at the show, pick up a PulpFest 50 postcard to learn more about this summer’s pulp con.

The poster art for March’s Pulp AdventureCon was adapted by Rich Harvey from George Rozen’s cover art for The Shadow Magazine for November 1, 1936, illustrating Theodore A. Tinsley’s “Partners of Peril.”
The Los Angeles Vintage Paperback Collectors Show’s 2022 internet poster was adapted by Tony Gleeson from the work of Ed Emshwiller. The painting was originally used as the front cover art for Science Fiction Stories for November 1958, published by Louis Silberkleit’s Columbia Publications and edited by Robert A. W. “Doc” Lowndes.
