Mask Requirements at the DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh—Cranberry

Currently, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has lifted all COVID mitigation orders. The Department recommends that everyone eligible should be vaccinated against the coronavirus, perform frequent hand-washing and sanitizing, and practice social distancing. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. If you are not vaccinated, you should wear a mask indoors.

Although we can’t force anyone, it’s our hope that everyone who plans to attend PulpFest and ERBFest 2021  will be vaccinated against COVID-19. We will have older members attending. Please keep them in mind. Remember, we’re all in this together.

According to the DoubleTree’s website, masks are optional for guests and DoubleTree Team Members who are fully vaccinated. The hotel follows Hilton’s brand standard and asks those who are not vaccinated to please wear a mask indoors and practice social distancing.

With the delta variant taking off around the United States, the CDC recommends that everyone, vaccinated or not, should wear masks in indoor public settings in areas with “substantial” or “high” virus transmission. Currently, the counties of Allegheny and Butler — where the DoubleTree is located — are in these categories.

If you are exhibiting any symptoms associated with COVID-19, please stay at home. You should not attend PulpFest. Isolate and avoid contact with others, rest, and drink fluids. If your symptoms worsen, call your health care provider.

Given the fluidity of the global health emergency, the organizing committee will continue to assess developments. We will advise you about any changes to our plans or requirements through our website and social media pages.

PulpFest and ERBFest 2021 are scheduled for Thursday, August 19, through Sunday, August 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry in Mars, Pennsylvania. We’ll be celebrating the centennial of LOVE STORY MAGAZINE, the 90th anniversary of THE SHADOW MAGAZINE, the life and work of Edgar Rice Burroughs, and much more. We hope you’ll join us.

George Rozen didn’t know much about masking and social distancing requirements when he painted the cover art for the May 1, 1936 issue of Street & Smith’s THE SHADOW MAGAZINE. But The Gray Ghost is certainly wearing a mask and The Shadow at least has his mouth covered. He forgot about his rather prominent nose. The two foes do appear to be some distance apart.

PulpFest Returns to Pittsburgh!

PulpFest 2025 will begin Thursday, August 7, and run through Sunday, August 10. It will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry. Please join us for "Masters of Blood and Thunder" and much more at PulpFest 2025.
