PulpFest is known for its enjoyable auctions. Over the last few years, PulpFest has sold three major collections of pulps, books, fanzines, and related materials. This year’s auction will be a bit quieter.
Our Saturday night auction will feature 25 lots remaining from the collections of the late Woody Hagadish and Albert Tonik. Click here for descriptions of these lots. You’ll also find photographs of selected lots below.
In addition to our estate lots, all members of PulpFest 2019 can submit items to sell at auction. All auction lots must have a $20 minimum value. If you plan to offer an auction lot with a reserve price, your reserve must be $50 or more. PulpFest reserves the right to reject any auction material that does not meet our standards. The convention charges sellers 10% of the selling price for anything sold at auction.
To submit material to the PulpFest 2019 Saturday night auction, look for our auction banner. It will be located at Mike Chomko’s table. That’s where all of our 2019 members can bring materials that they’d like to place into our Saturday night auction. Your material must be submitted to PulpFest prior to 2 PM on the day of the auction.
After all the lots have been processed, there will be an auction preview, running from 4:15 – 4:45 PM on Saturday, August 17. There will also be a last minute preview running from 9:30 – 9:45 PM. Our auction banner will be outside the preview room to direct the curious to where they can view the auction lots.
The Saturday night auction will begin at 9:45 PM on August 17 in the PulpFest programming hall.
If you have questions concerning the auction or are interested in submitting an absentee bid, please contact programming and marketing director Mike Chomko at mike@pulpfest.com or 2217 W. Fairview Street, Allentown, PA 18104-6542.
PulpFest 2019 will take place from August 15 through August 18 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry — just north of Pennsylvania’s “Steel City.” You can register for the convention by clicking one of the Register buttons on our home page. And don’t forget to book a room at the DoubleTree. You can reserve a room by calling 1-800-222-8733. Please be sure to mention PulpFest when placing your reservation in order to receive any convention special deals that may still be available. There is ample free parking surrounding the hotel.
(PulpFest advertising director Bill Lampkin designed the convention’s auction banner. It is based on a colorized photo of a June 26, 1942 magazine display rack from Yreka, California.)
