From August 15 – August 18, you’ll be able to find your way around PulpFest 2019 by looking for our special banners.
The SHOP banner will be outside our dealers’ room at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh – Cranberry. Our AUCTION banner will be located at Mike Chomko’s table. That’s where all of our 2019 members can bring materials that they’d like to place into our Saturday night auction. It will later be moved to our preview room to direct the curious where they can go for a peek at our auction lots. The PANELS banner will be outside our programming area at the DoubleTree. That’s where our presentations will take place. The CHILL AND RELAX banner will be outside the PulpFest hospitality suite.
But that’s not all. We’ll also have a READINGS banner outside our programming area. Find it to enjoy our New Fictioneers readings on Friday and Saturday. The banner will also mark the “Raw Dog Screaming Press Rapid-Fire Read & Sweet Sixteen Celebration” on Friday morning, as well as the “Dog Star Books Rapid-Fire Read & Sweet Sixteen Celebration” and “Popular Fiction from Seton Hill” presentation on Saturday morning.
The ART SHOW banner will mark the location of our gallery showing of “The Art of Edgar Rice Burroughs.” Join PulpFest 2019 on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17, for this special art exhibition examining of the pervasive influence of Edgar Rice Burroughs on popular culture. The exhibit will be open for viewing from 2:30 to 4:30 PM on both days.
And then there’s our main banner, right by our registration desk. That’s the banner sponsored by Meteor House that will WELCOME you to PulpFest 2019. Many thanks to this fine small publisher for their generous donation to help create our main banner.
With all that’s happening at PulpFest 2019, we’ll have banners just about everywhere. To check them out, register for the convention by clicking the Register button below our homepage banner. (Our SHOP banner is based on Arnold Kohn’s cover for the June 1949 AMAZING STORIES; our AUCTION banner features a colorized photo of a June 26, 1942 magazine display rack located in Yreka, California; the source of our PANELS banner is the January 1934 issue of THE PHANTOM DETECTIVE, featuring cover art by Rafael DeSoto; the CHILL AND RELAX banner uses Gloria Stoll’s cover art for the September 1945 BLACK MASK.
Hannes’ Bok’s WEIRD TALES cover for the November 1941 number graces our READINGS banner; Margaret Brundage’s cover for the May 1943 WEIRD TALES appears on the ART SHOW banner; our welcome banner is based on Walter Baumhofer’s cover for the March 1933 DOC SAVAGE MAGAZINE.)
