For the last few years, PulpFest has organized a group dinner on the last evening of the convention. Dining together on Saturday has been a long-standing tradition at summer pulp cons. It gives everyone the chance to break bread together, while batting the bull about pulps and collecting. This year, PulpFest will be dining informally at ember & vine, located right in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh — Cranberry. It’s the perfect place to gather, grab a bite, and relax.
The dinner menu takes a simple approach with strong components: salt, pepper, and fire, coupled with carefully selected local ingredients, are the focal points of our classic American cuisine. The wood-fire American cooking is showcased with handcrafted flatbreads and desserts, baked mac ‘n cheese, and butter-roasted oysters with fresh thyme. Regional fare and creative pizzas lead the selection of entrees, while the large assortment of appetizers, small plates, and comfort foods blend taste and nostalgia, allowing guests to customize their dining experience from one day to the next. Upscale wines poured from the wine-preservation system, local craft brews, and signature cocktail and shrub options are in line with the spacious, flexible atmosphere. With the expansive bar, communal tables, and multiple dining options, each visit feels like a new, unique experience enhanced by mid-century modern design.
Although this is strictly an informal gathering at no set price, seating is limited. So be sure to sign up early to assure your participation in this entertaining event. Last year’s dinner was a resounding success. You can sign up when you register for PulpFest 2017 or right at the convention. Just let us know by 1 PM on Saturday, July 29 that you’ll be coming. We will need to give our hotel an estimated head count. We look forward to gathering with you and talking about our wonderful shared interest — the pulps!
(On Saturday evening, July 29, from 5 to 6:50 PM, join your friends — old and new — at ember & vine in the heart of the DoubleTree Cranberry. It’s an opportunity to socialize after a hearty day of collecting in the PulpFest dealers’ room, prior to taking in the convention’s exceptional evening programming.)
