We owe a ton of thanks to our newest sponsor, AbeBooks.com, the online marketplace for books. Not only has AbeBooks added their name to our growing list of web site sponsors — you’ll find their logo on our home page — they have also agreed to sponsor our PulpFest 2016 name tags and program guides. Additionally, AbeBooks will be offering two hardcover copies of Mike Ashley’s SCIENCE FICTION REBELS, the fourth volume in the author’s History of the Science-Fiction Magazine as door prizes during July’s convention. Be sure to bookmark pulpcon.org to learn about more AbeBooks/PulpFest offers in the months ahead.
Many thanks to all of our sponsors for their generous support of our convention. If you or your business are interested in becoming a sponsor of PulpFest, please contact the convention’s marketing director, Mike Chomko. You can reach him at mike@pulpfest.com.
(Galaxy Press writer L. Ron Hubbard‘s stories appeared in seventeen issues of ARGOSY WEEKLY, all published in 1936 and 1937. Although his name was often featured on the cover, his only story to receive ARGOSY cover billing was “Mr. Luck,” published in the October 3, 1936 issue. However, V. E. Pyles’ cover art illustrated Theodore Roscoe’s “King of Beasts.” Also featured in the issue were stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard, making the number a highly collectible issue of the magazine. PulpFest 2016 will be saluting the 120th anniversary of ARGOSY, the first pulp magazine.)
